UH3D (UnderHood in 3 Dimensions) is a tailored application designed for vehicle front end cooling analysis. Traditionally this area of CFD analysis has been very time consuming due to the complex geometry involved. UH3D over comes this bottle neck by only requiring a triangle surface mesh as geometry input. The solver is very efficient in parallel to reduce the turn around time of the analysis. The results provide velocity, pressure, and temperature distributions throughout the vehicle front end including pressure drop and temperature rise across each heat exchanger. The coolant temperature leaving each heat exchanger as well as the air temperature at which coolant starts to boil will also be calculated.
